Callistemon is a genus comprising numerous species of evergreen shrubs and trees native to Australia, closely related to our Myrtaceae family. They have also become popular in Europe thanks to their distinctive, spectacular flowers in ascending, brush-like spikes. They can be grown outdoors in all temperate climates. In harsher climates, they are grown in pots and brought indoors for the winter, watered generously during flowering and sparingly in winter. They prefer moist, well-drained, non-calcareous soil. They tolerate pruning and drought.
