The Canary Island Date Palm, as its name suggests, originates from the Canary Islands. It is a vigorous palm that can reach 20 meters in height, with a very wide crown and a large trunk. Its pinnate, arching leaves are 5-6 meters long, composed of pointed, bright green leaflets. The tiny, dark yellow flowers are clustered in hanging panicles that can exceed one meter in length; they bloom in April. The ovoid fruits are dark golden-brown, 2.5 cm long, and only ripen in the most favorable climates.
